The survey is an annual census completed by the federal agencies that conduct R&D programs. Actual data are collected for the fiscal year just completed; estimates are obtained for the current fiscal.

In over one hundred respondents submitted data in response to the National Science Foundation's annual survey of federal funds for research and development. Agencies reported their data as obligations and outlays incurred or expected to be incurred regardless of when they were appropriated.

These tables present data for 33 agencies for fiscal years \2\Federally funded research and development centers. NOTE: Some data have been revised from previously published figures.
